About Us

Adam, a native of Birmingham, Michigan, got lost one day and ended up in Birmingham, England in 2017. "Guess I'll make the best of this crazy mix up," he thought. After a year there, he realized that middle England (aka the Midlands) wasn't for him so he moved on down to the big city of London in early 2018.

Emily, a native of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, decided that she wasn't as willing to accept her "banishment to the colonies” as generations of her family before her had done and moved to London from San Francisco in early 2018. She certainly didn't move for the weather.

Neither Adam or Emily knew many people in London. Fortuitously in March 2018, the University of Michigan held an annual alumni reception at London’s 116 Pall Mall. Both showed up solo and Emily went over to say hi to an old professor while Adam was talking to him. They ended up sharing that they both didn't know many people in London, exchanging numbers and agreeing to meet up for a friend date. They quickly became good friends, touring every foodie experience, attending the theater and visiting all the cocktail bars they could find in London. They even traveled together to Slovenia, Austria, and the Cotswolds (as friends do).

In early 2020, Adam asked Emily if she'd ever thought about them dating. She said yes so they began officially dating. After a few blissful weeks of foodie first dates and theaters packed full of people with coughs, the UK locked down for Covid. Luckily, they only lived a few minutes’ walk from each other so they got to spend 24/7 together conquering puzzles, mastering how to make negronis and waiting in hour-long lines for groceries.

After an eventful (yet ridiculously uneventful) year and a half of dating, Adam proposed on a roof overlooking St. Paul’s Cathedral. Then a few months later, they got married at the Islington Town Hall in London with their families present. Now they continue to live in Islington, while Emily anxiously awaits the hopeful addition of a puppy to complete their family.
